CLUTCHES
Smooth clutches embroidered with silk thread and inspired by Greek heritage.
Our CLUTCH BAGS are inspired by traditional Skyros embroidery.
Women in Skyros have been embroidering multicoloured designs since Ancient times. This skill has kept the design elements of Greek folk art alive, and we have chosen the most imaginative and typically Skyrian designs to create our CLUTCH BAGS. So, thanks to Greek traditions, you can enjoy a bag which exudes that special elegance at any occasion.

Octopus
The octopus motif originated around 1500 BC and by the Minoan period the so-called “marine style” of decorating pottery had become even more prevalent and diverse. Some ceramics were covered with fish, octopuses, dolphins, and crabs. In fact there was even a vessel covered with murexes. Perhaps these people simply liked octopuses and sea creatures. We can certainly understand that motivation!

Mati
In Greece, the Mati (eye) actually dates all the way back to the 6th Century B.C in ancient times. The process of casting away the evil eye is called “xematiasma” and is made up of a specific set of rituals. It all starts with the incantation, which is then recited three times. If the person is afflicted with the evil eye, both parties, the person who has it and the healer, will begin to yawn. Aside from that, rituals can differ according to the family, the region, and the situation in which the Greek evil eye (mati) occurred.
The evil eye (mati) is most certainly a part of the Greek culture and learning what you can about it is the way to go! Here,on a clutch bag!!
